Instructor Kids Programs

The Rock and Rope Climbing Centre is looking for a full time Instructor to run the following kids climbing programs, the Spider Monkeys and Chimps, in addition to PA, Winter, March Break, and Summer Day Camps. The application deadline is August 29, 2019

Responsibilities

• Planning and implementation of 8 week curriculum to develop rock climbing skills, techniques and abilities for program participants ages 6-12 years,
• Planning and implementation of games and activities for PA, March Break, and Summer Day Camps (6-14 years),
• Work with the Route Setting team to ensure setting that will help achieve team goals,
• Recruit youth customers register for existing programs (Spider Monkey and Chimps, PA Day Camps, March Break, and Summer Day Camps)
• Assist in the development of marketing strategies to recruit and build the Spider Monkeys and Chimps climbing program, in addition to the PA Day, March Break and Summer Day Camps,
• Instruct new climber on how to safely put on a climbing harness, tying a double figure eight knot,  and belay safety with a Petzl Grigri, and
• Assess belay techniques and ability to tie a figure eight of experienced climbing coming to the Rock and Rope Climbing Centre for the first time, and
• Other general duties that are consistent with the position,

Qualifications:

• Experience working with youth in a recreation or Day Camp setting,
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills,
• Experience with belay devices such as the Petzl Grigri,
• Knowledge of intermediate to advanced indoor rock climbing techniques,
• Police background check,
• Experience recruiting youth from customer pool to join the program
