Responsibilities
As the Youth Program Coordinator, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Creating a safe and inclusive environment for youth participants, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and best practices
- Coordinating the Spider Monkeys and Chimps Climbing Program to provide a nurturing, educational, and challenging environment for young climbers
- Collaborating with instructors and staff to design age-appropriate and skill-building climbing activities
- Mentoring and supervising youth climbers during program sessions, providing guidance and support as they develop their climbing skills
- Coordinating CAMP CLIMB Day Camps for PA Days, March Break, and Summer, offering exciting and educational climbing experiences for participants
- Oversight of email communication to parents regarding program enrolment, registration, and scheduling, ensuring clear and timely information dissemination for youth programs
- Maintaining program records, tracking participant progress, and providing regular updates to parents and guardians
- Assisting in the recruitment, training, and supervision of program staff
- Contributing to the overall marketing and promotion of youth programs to attract new participants and enhance program visibility
- Collaborating with management to develop and manage the program budget, including resource allocation and procurement of program supplies
To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- Experience working with youth in a recreational or educational setting
- Experience with Rock Gym Pro software (an asset)
- Strong knowledge of rock climbing techniques, safety standards, and equipment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate young participants
- Organizational skills and attention to detail to effectively plan and execute program activities
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of instructors, staff, and volunteers
- Passion for youth development and a commitment to creating a positive and enriching experience for young climbers
- Certification in youth program leadership, climbing instruction, or related areas (an asset)

Responsibilities
- Lead weekly, evening advanced and competitive youth team practices
- Assist in administering team tryouts and promotions
- Attend offsite climbing competitions and events
- Deliver engaging clinics, group sessions, and private lessons
- Maintain a safe and inclusive climbing environment
- Minimum 3 years of coaching experience in a climbing gym, fitness centre, or related program
- Proficient boulder and sport climber, able to climb at least V6 and 5.12
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work well as part of a team and communicate professionally with athletes, coaches, parents, and gym leadership
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
- Demonstrated passion for climbing and fitness
- Ontario Climbing Federation Coaching Membership
- Rock and Rope Climbing Centre membership

Primary Job Duties
Professionalism
- Communicate respectfully and coherently with all members of the setting team
- Coordinate and align setting functions with gym events, customer needs, and general operations of the gym in cooperation with the Head Route Setter
- Communicate expectations of the day/week/month to the team in a timely and appropriate manner
- Maintain changeover rates
- Provide feedback to other setters on their product during the setting day
- Manage and deliver the final product of the set to the customers at the quality that is expected
- Create fun, interesting, creative boulder problems and routes
- Experiment with different setting styles, innovating and co-creating with the rest of the team
- Fore run routes and problems, providing and receiving constructive feedback to setting team members
- Take constructive feedback and make appropriate changes to the product
- Manage the maintenance of Ropes, Draws, and other climbing wall related equipment
- Create quarterly holds orders within the budget provided by the Head Route Setter
- Maintain supplies essential to route setting
- 2 years of route setting experience
- Must be able to effectively fore run V6 and 5.12+
- Capable of setting 2-3 routes per day
- Capable of setting 6-7 boulders per day
- Strong understanding of climbing techniques and movement skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate professionally and effectively
- Excellent group management skills
- High-level understanding and proficiency with Rock Gym Pro (Asset)
- Basic understanding and proficiency with Rock Gym Pro
